Yummy Gifts for Food Allergic Kids PDF Print E-mail
According to the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN) scientists estimate that approximately 12 million Americans now suffer from true food allergies.  More than 1/3 of these are estimated to be kids.  A few small, but wise, manufacturers have recognized the needs of this four million plus market.  Not only do they produce great allergen-friendly products year round, but several have also created special products just for the holiday season.

For safe festivities, gifts, and stocking stuffers seek out these kid-approved treats:

Divvies:  We love the Divvies line of cookies year round, but the giant tubs of popcorn bring back a great holiday tradition.  It comes in three flavors: kettle corn, caramel popcorn, and chocolate caramel popcorn; as well as three sizes: individual, 3-gallon, and the crowd-pleasing 5-gallon package (free shipping).  Divvies “safe sweets” are always dairy, egg, peanut and tree nut free.  Of course, they also produce allergen-safe candy, cupcakes, and assorted gift baskets.  Enjoy 10% off your purchases at Divvies anytime with the coupon code DairyFree10.

Sun Flour Baking:  Vegan and allergen friendly, Sun Flour Baking company makes dozens of cookie varieties in all sizes and quantities.  They have a wide selection of gift baskets as well as a holiday variety sampler pack that includes five large cookies:  Gingerbread, Pumpkin Spice, Mint Chip, Cinnamon and Fudge Brownie.  Each product is made in a dedicated dairy and egg free facility.  They also carry a gluten/wheat free line.  They do produce all of their products (including those containing peanut) on a shared line with thorough cleaning of utensils and machinery between each batch.

Amanda’s Own Confections: Originally produced for Amanda, a child with a life-threatening dairy allergy, these chocolates come in a range of kid friendly shapes.  This holiday season you will find dreidels, menorahs, snowmen, angels, Santas, and Christmas trees among the confection collection.  Amanda’s Own runs a dairy, egg, peanut and tree nut free facility.

Pure Fun:  New on the scene, this Canadian based company is selling its all-natural candies through select online retailers in the U.S.  Pure Fun’s latest product, the Natural Peppermint with a Hint O’Cherry Candy Canes, have arrived just in time for Christmas.  These vegan (dairy and egg free) candies are made in a nut free facility.  They are also free of titanium dioxide, GMO's, artificial colors or flavors, and pesticides.  Receive 10% off your purchase of Pure Fun candy canes at the Allergy Grocer with the coupon code DairyFree10.

Cherrybrook Kitchen:  Cherrybrook has not produced a special product for the holidays, but their Traditional Variety Pack and their Gluten-Free/Wheat-Free Variety Pack are certainly gift worthy.  For the kids that like to get involved in the kitchen, each pack including the following mixes:  Chocolate Chip Cookie, Sugar Cookie, Chocolate Cake, Yellow Cake (not in the gluten-free pack), Chocolate Frosting, and Vanilla Frosting.  The boxes are designed with fun animated characters, so that kids know they were made just for them.  The Cherrybrook Kitchen is dairy, egg, peanut, and tree nut free.

More allergen-safe ideas are available in the online Product Lists, downloadable PDF Product Lists, and the new guide book "Dairy Free Made Easy."
