Blackwell's GelatoRed Bank, NJ (July 2007) – Producers and authors Joe & Jennifer Remling want dreamers like Marcia Blackwell, a Long Branch local entrepreneur, for their book and documentary called “Carve Your Own Road.” The Remlings are dreamers themselves. They left corporate jobs and are setting off in their Airsteam to discover people who realized their dreams and now have successful businesses as a result.

The Remlings plan to roll in from Atlanta, Georgia on July 24 to Sickles Market, Little Silver, to conduct their interview with Blackwell. Marcia started Blackwell’s Organic Dairy-free Gelato & Fruit Sorbetto two years ago in 2005 after she was laid off from her job as an office manager.

Today Blackwell’s Organic Dairy-free Gelato & Fruit Sorbetto is stocked in over 40 supermarkets, health food stores and specialty food stores. In fact, all New Jersey Whole Food Markets and three NY City Whole Foods stores carry Blackwell’s Organic Gelato, as well as Sickles Market winner of “Outstanding Specialty Food Retailer 2007” awarded by the National Association for Specialty Food Trade.

“We want our book and documentary to be the catalyst for people to take ownership of their dreams,” said Jennifer Remling. They are interviewing many people like the owners of Fox and Obel, a specialty food store in Chicago owned by former corporate attorneys (also “Outstanding Specialty Food Retailers) and Warren Brown, former attorney and now owner of CakeLove, a specialty retail bakery and now series on Food Network.

The Remlings are sponsored by Airstream, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary next year.

They are towing the Airstream and will have a satellite allowing tracking capabilities on their web site, which is nearing completion, and on www.airstream.com.

Marcia Blackwell started the company in 2005 to reflect her ideals and commitment to living a healthy and responsible lifestyle. Blackwell searches for farmers and suppliers devoted to sustainable agriculture, resource conservation, and fair trade. The classic, healthful frozen desserts are handmade in the Italian tradition, using the highest quality certified organic ingredients including Fair Trade Certified™ cocoa and coffee, and real fruit and fruit juice.

“Flavor is number one with us,” says Marcia. “Often consumers find our product because they are looking for an organic or FairTrade alternative or perhaps they are vegan, lactose intolerant or have other dietary restrictions.  Our customers stay with us because our gelato tastes delicious. They also respect our personal and corporate ideals.” she said.

Blackwell’s Organic is NJ’s only certified organic, dairy-free gelato and sorbetto manufacturer.

Blackwell’s Organic is NJ’s first and only certified organic, dairy-free gelato and fruit sorbetto manufacturer. The company - headquartered in Red Bank – was started by Marcia and Tom Blackwell in 2005. Blackwell’s Organic is dedicated to using ingredients that come from farmers and suppliers devoted to sustainable agriculture, resource conservation, and fair trade.
