A story from Medical News Today reported the results of a new study that found a direct correlation between nutrition and cognitive development in school aged children. The research team used two study groups, one of well-nourished children in Australia, and one of poorly nourished children in Indonesia. Among those children, some were given a daily drink with added vitamins and minerals, while some were given a placebo. Surprisingly, even in Australia where the children were already well-fed, those children who received the supplement performed significantly better on mental tests than children in the placebo/control group.
