KFC Issues Allergy Alert, Voluntarily Recalls Unlabeled Double Chocolate Chip Cakes PDF Print E-mail

Toledo, OH - The FDA is announcing a recall on KFC's Double Chocolate Chip Cakes due to a labeling error.  KFC Corporation is voluntarily recalling these cakes because they contain eggs, milk, wheat, soy ingredients and possibly traces of tree nuts, but they are not individually labeled with ingredient information.  People who have an allergy to eggs, milk, wheat, soy ingredients or tree nuts run the risk of a serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume this product. There is no health risk for consumers who are not allergic to any ingredients in the product ...

The recalled cakes were distributed nationwide at KFC restaurants.

he product comes in a round 16-ounce package with a black or clear plastic bottom and a clear plastic dome.

There has been one reported allergic reaction to this product.

KFC will resume selling Double Chocolate Chip Cakes in the future after the product packaging has been modified to include ingredient information.
