Congratulations to Miranda Lund, she will be receiving a copy of “The Raw 50” by Carol Alt, and Kristen Kauke, who won a copy of “Allergen-Free Baking” by Jill Robbins. Thank you to the hundreds of responses we received for this month’s giveaway, and for letting us know your favorite cookbook of all time. We read them all … some were a fun surprise, like “the one we received for free from Costco” and “the cookbook my boyfriend made for me,” some met a special diet need, and others were tried and true cookbooks etched into American history. Curious? According to the Go Dairy Free newsletter readers, the best cookbook of all time is …
The Joy of Cooking ~ Special diet or not, this was the hands down favorite. Many even commented that the recipes were easy to adapt to dairy-free and other dietary restrictions. The only thing that couldn't be agreed upon was which edition ... everyone had their own favorite year.
Of course, there were several runners-up, garnering a good share of the votes … Better Homes & Gardens New Cookbook ~ which isn't very new anymore, but a classic Betty Crocker Cookbook ~ another classic with many editions to love The Whole Foods Allergy Cookbook ~ by Cybele Pascal Passionate Vegetarian ~ by Crescent Dragonwagon The Moosewood Cookbook ~ by Mollie Katzen Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World ~ by Isa Chandra Moskowitz Vegan with a Vengeance ~ by Isa Chandra Moskowitz Veganomicon ~ yes, Isa Chandra Moskowitz rocks LaRousse Gastronomique ~ an encyclopedia of culinary excellence, seriously As for our two winners, they had the following to say about their favorite cookbook … Miranda said, “My go to book is the Betty Crocker Cookbook I got from my mom when I went to college in 1997. I use it all the time, but usually tweak it for my needs.”
Kristen said, “My favorite cookbook of all time is “The Whole Foods Allergy Cookbook” by Cybele Pascal. I’ve tried just about every recipe in the book and have not been let down once! Every recipe is reasonably easy to make, healthy, and sooo tasty, plus, allergy free! It’s great to show family and friends that allergy-free cooking does not have to be free from flavor!” Thank you again to all who responded! Our June prize will be announced on the front page of www.godairyfree.org next week, so stay tuned! |
