Frugal Foodie Friday: Unreal Natural and Organic Grocery Deals for Back to School PDF Print E-mail

Amazon Grocery Deals August 2009As mentioned before, I seek out deals wherever they may be ... and if that means shopping for groceries online, so be it. But this month, I was rather blown away by all of the dairy-free (and in many cases food allergen-free), natural food super-deep discounts available from the Amazon Grocery Sales & Special Offers for the month of August (these deals expire on Aug 31, 2009). Thick cut, lavishly (and naturally) flavored tortilla chips for less than $2.00 a bag (delivered!), jumbo whole grain cookies for $.70 a piece, and better than Oreo organic cookie packs for just $.50 a piece ... I could go on, but I will let the deals speak for themselves.

Keep in mind, all grocery purchases of $25 or more on Amazon include free shipping, and right now, orders under $25 cost just $.99 in shipping! And, since you are ordering online, there probably won't be any sales tax either. Bonus!  You can view all of this month's deals here on the Grocery Sales Page, but for fun, I have included below details on the offers for our favorite picks ... that is, foods we have trialed, enjoyed, and think are a great value at these prices ...

YummyEarth Organic Lollipops - These completely classroom-friendly treats are dairy-free, gluten-free, nut-free, vegan, all natural, organic, and free of the top allergens. As for the price, lets do the math. Order two 5-lb bags of organic lollipops, which are already marked  43% off, and take another 45% off, AND enjoy free shipping. That is 10lbs of all natural, kid-friendly lollipops (can we say class events or lunchbox treats?) for just $25.27 shipped! Take advantage of the YummyEarth Deal Here.

Erin Baker's Breakfast Cookies, Granola, and Brownies - Choose from full-size breakfast cookies, brownie bites, granola, granola snack packs, and breakfast cookie minis. Almost all are dairy-free, and Erin Baker only uses whole grains and all natural ingredients in her products. Bottom line: the jumbo breakfast cookies end up being just $.70 to $.88 a piece and the granola snack packs are even cheaper! Take advantage of the Erin Baker Deal Here.

Nature's Path / Envirokidz - They definitely have kids in mind with this discount. Envirokidz Rice Crispy Bars, cereals, and animal cookies AND Nature's Path Toaster Pastries (go with the unfrosted ones for dairy-free) are all 23% off, plus 20% off with coupon code, plus 15% off with Subscribe & Save (which you can cancel anytime without charge). Take advantage of the Nature's Path / Envirokidz Deal Here.

Zoe's Bars and Granola - Another wonderful whole grain company. The granola comes out to $2.50 or less per box, and the bars come out even cheaper than the Erin Baker cookies! Stick with the PB or Apple Energy Bars for dairy-free, but the granola is all game. Take advantage of the Zoe's Deal Here.

Peeled Snacks - This is one of my favorite snack companies ... their dried fruit is seriously the freshest ever (the bananas, cherries, and mango truly won me over). At regular price, it is a bit out of budget, but with the discount and coupon code savings, it is worth it. Take advantage of the Peeled Snacks Deal Here.

FoodsShouldTasteGood Chips - The best (super-thick) tortilla chips ever! Of the selections available, the Olive, Sweet Potato, and Buffalo are my top picks, but you be the judge. Depending on the discounts used, they come out to just $1.65 or $2.01 per bag. ALL of their products are gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan. Take advantage of the FoodShouldTasteGood Deal Here.

Arico Cookies and Cassava Chips - I have tasted all of the Arico products, and they are yummy, but the Cassava Chips are my favorite (which come out to just $1.85 a bag after the discount!). Their entire product line is gluten-free / casein-free. Take advantage of the Arico Deal Here.

Barney Butter - Truthfully, I haven't trialed this Almond Butter, but if it is half as good as Heather says it is, then this is an awesome deal. Plus, they have 90-calorie almond butter packs to include in lunchboxes. They come out to just $.33 a piece after discount! The full jars come out to about $5 a piece. Take advantage of the Barney Butter Deal Here.

Late July Organic Sandwich Cookies and Crackers - Side step the cheddar ones for dairy-free, but enjoy the peanut butter-filled "butter" crackers (taste-tested and approved by myself) and any of the delicious sandwich cookies (taste-tested and approved by our sweets expert). If my math serves me correctly, the cookie packs are just $.50 to $.63 each once it is all said and done. Take advantage of the Late July Deal Here.

Dr. Lucy Cookies - I just sampled all flavors a few months ago, and they are soooo good. These are crispy cookies, modest in size, and they are surprisingly gluten-free, egg-free, nut-free, dairy-free, and vegan. They are certainly a perfect treat for traveling to school, the office, or elsewhere. These are already marked 23-35% off, but with the code you get an additional 50% off! It comes out to just under $2.00 per 5.5oz box, or just $.54 per 1.25oz to go pouch. Take advantage of the Dr. Lucy Deal Here.

Sahale Snacks - As coincidence would have it, I just sampled these last week (review to come). I was bummed to see that the snack packs of PB&J Almonds and Pomegranate Cashews were sold out, as these seriously won my husband over. As for their larger bags, we only sampled the Soledad, which I liked, but it wasn't a sweet mix, so my sugar-addicted husband opted for the snack packs. Either way, they are fascinating, flavorful, and a good value with the discount, additional 25% off, and another 15% off with subscribe & save. Take advantage of the Sahale Snacks Deal Here.

This list is by no means exhaustive; there are many, many more (including Zico coconut water, O.N.E. coffee juice, Eden organic products, Stacey's pita chips, etc., etc.). These just happen to be my top picks for natural food deals based on what our dairy-free crew has trialed and good back to school / work foods. You can see the full list on the Amazon Grocery Deals Page
