Recipes, Reviews, and Sweepstakes for Nasoya's New Dairy-Free Dessert Starter PDF Print E-mail

Nasoya Silken CreationsNasoya Silken CreationsMy first question when I received the news about Nasoya Silken Creations was, "What is it?" The response of a "dessert starter" left me even more befuddled, as I had never come across anything similar, dairy-free or not. But our adventurous, dessert-loving tester Sarena was more than enthusiastic to take it on (all three flavors, of course), and what she discovered was truly a revolutionary new product. She literally fell in love with the ease of using Silken Creations to create creamy, low-fat desserts. In fact, she even put its simplicity to the test by using the Strawberry Silken Creations as the only ingredient in homemade dairy-free ice cream. The delicious results exceeded her expectations ...

But before she trialed the strawberry version, there was the Vanilla Silken Creations, from which Vegan Vanilla Shortcakes were created ... and the Chocolate Silken Creations that did double duty in a Dark Chocolate Cake and Dark Chocolate Pancakes. You can read Sarena's full reviews and the corresponding recipes by clicking through these links.

As mentioned, Silken Creations is dairy-free and low-fat, but it does have a few other virtues worth noting. All three flavors are vegan, gluten-free, kosher, and all natural.

While it is fairly new to the market, Silken Creations is popping up in the refrigerated aisle of natural food stores, such as Whole Foods. For more information on the product and its ingredients (which are thankfully few), or to contact the company, see the Nasoya website.

Ah wait! I also mentioned a sweepstakes didn't I? Giveaways seem to be all the rage these days, and Nasoya isn't about to idly sit by. You can enter to win a Silken Creations gift package valued $200. Simply fill out the entry form for your chance to win. All entries must be received by August 31, 2009. Good luck!
