Galaxy Nutritional Foods Launches New Soy-Free, Vegan "Cheese" Block PDF Print E-mail

Dairy-free cheese alternatives just began popping onto the market with fervor a few years ago, but surprisingly, the soy-free options have remained slim for vegans and dairy-free dieters. Until recently, Galaxy Nutritional Foods was the only option with their Vegan Rice "Cheese" Slices (keep an eye out for Daiya Foods, as they may soon give Galaxy a run for their money). But not everyone likes the velveeta-style packaging, so Galaxy has at last come up with a new Vegan Rice "Cheese" Block that, like their slices, is soy-free and dairy-free (use caution when shopping, as they also have non-vegan rice "cheese" products which are packaged similarly). This new cheese alternative is timely, responding to growing demand from the milk allergy and soy intolerant community.

The new cheesy blocks are not only soy- and casein-free, but they are also gluten-free, made with 55 percent organic ingredients, and made without preservatives, cholesterol, and trans fat. The company reports (though it should be tested) that their new cheese alternative offers a "smooth melt." The blocks will be available in Mozzarella and Cheddar flavors ...

And, as if this new product weren't enough, Galaxy is releasing new and improved products for all of its remaining cheese alternative brands. Galaxy’s Vegan brand products now feature a new organic-soy base, and the Rice Vegan Slices have been upgraded to an organic-rice base.

The new Rice Vegan "cheese" blocks and other new and improved Galaxy products will debut with newly designed packaging in late 2009 (hopefully differentiating better between the vegan and non-vegan lines!). Galaxy’s cheese alternatives can be found in the refrigerated section of natural food departments and natural food stores. For more info, visit www.GalaxyFoods.com.
