Dairy-Free Foods Manufacturer Receives Prestigious Award from Vegetarian Community - Eugene, OR – VegNews, a prominent vegetarian lifestyle magazine, announces Turtle Mountain as the 2009 Veggie Award Winner for both Company of the Year and Favorite Vegan Ice Cream. With nearly 35,000 readers voting for their favorite veg people, places, and products in 62 categories, this annual survey is the largest of its kind in the world. The awards showcase the best of vegetarian in categories ranging from soymilk, veggie burger, and restaurant to celebrity, website, and even most veg-friendly city.

“Turtle Mountain is a leader in the vegetarian industry and continues to develop high-quality veg products. We are pleased to honor your accomplishments with a 2009 Veggie Award,” says VegNews Publisher Joseph Connelly.

Turtle Mountain’s line of Purely Decadent® Coconut Milk ice cream pints won for Favorite Vegan Ice Cream.  This is the eighth straight year that Purely Decadent® has won this award.  The company’s So Delicious® Coconut Milk Beverage was also nominated for Best Milk Alternative.

“We are truly honored and humbled to receive this distinction from members of the vegetarian community,” says John Tucker, Turtle Mountain’s Vice President of Marketing and Technology.  “We wish to thank our loyal customers who not only support our products but also inspire us everyday with powerful stories about how these products touch their lives - without them Turtle Mountain simply would not exist.”

The VegNews Veggie Awards recognize excellence in the vegetarian industry. VegNews’ readers submit their ballots during the month of August, and winners are announced in the holiday edition of the magazine. The annual celebration of the best that veg living has to offer has become the most popular feature in the publication. The issue will be available November 1 on newsstands everywhere and through the magazine’s website, vegnews.com.
