The big day is Saturday, May 29, 2010, but the creators of the Multi-City Vegan Waffle Party welcome participants throughout May and June.
So what does it take to join the Global Vegan Waffle Party? "It’s as easy as signing up, inviting over a few friends, having them bring creative toppings, and baking (or even letting them bake!) some tasty waffles [see links to great dairy-free / egg-free waffle recipes below]. Or, you can make it a large and impressive production if you’d like. The idea is to inspire awareness and change in a fun and relatively easy way." 2008 had parties in 10 cities, 2009 in 17 cities, and for 2010 the big goal is a 40-city waffle party. Even if you aren't into throwing an actual party, the event is a great excuse to trial out some vegan waffle recipes with your family or even solo (waffles freeze fantastically for a quick pop-in-the-toaster breakfast) ...
Registering your party is free, and includes a complimentary "Vegan Waffle Party Primer" to be sent to you with even more recipes. This year’s theme for the party is “Good for Many Species and Our Planet." Both the official date and theme were selected because May 29th falls just one week before the UN World Environment Day, and their 2010 theme happens to be biodiversity, or “many species, one planet, one future.” For more information and to sign up, see the Global Vegan Party Website.
