A Carnival of Pumpkin Pleasures and Food Allergy Discussions PDF Print E-mail

Pumpkin Bread PuddingIt has been a few months since I last hosted the Living with Food Allergies Blog Carnival, so I thought it was about time we did it again!  Since we are here on Halloween day, with little time to prepare last minute goodies, this edition teases with recipes that are perfect for post-Halloween pumpkin pleasure (pumpkin bread pudding or pumpkin pie anyone?).  Plus, it is rich with special diet and health topics ... Are you allergic to foods not in the top 8? Could there be a relation between antibiotics and allergies? ... and even a few all around fun posts, like the Top 100 Blogs for Foodies and Celiac-Free in Spain.  You get the gist.  Read on for all of the great stories ...

Welcome to the October 31, 2008 edition of living with food allergies carnival ...

Let's start with some tasty recipes, shall we?

Rational Jenn presents Pumpkin pie recipe -- dairy free, nut free posted at my kids' allergies, saying, "Gladys presents an allergen-friendly recipe for a classic autumn dessert!"

Hannah presents No Plain Jane Pumpkin Bread Here posted at BitterSweet, saying, "It is naturally egg-free and dairy-free, but you can make it soy-free with your favorite milk alternative, or even gluten-free with some slices of gluten-free bread." (pictured above, photo by Hannah)

Just in case you need some last minute Halloween ideas ...

Libby presents Spider Cupcakes & Halloween Tidbits posted at The Allergic Kid.

Rational Jenn presents Gimbal?s candies are allergen-free posted at Sure Foods Living - for celiac disease, gluten intolerance, food allergies, peanut allergy, nut allergy, gluten-free diet, gfcf diet, dairy-free, egg-free, soy free or other allergen-free living, saying, "Mmmmm....jelly beans! Alison gives us the scoop on some candy for those with food allergies."

Rational Jenn presents Countdown to An Allergy-free Halloween! posted at Check My Tag Community, saying, "Ria's got some great Halloween tips!"

Now that we need to detox from all of the sugar, lets focus on health and news a bit ...

There are some changes afoot and with a little push from you, your child could be eating some gluten-free hot lunches before the end of this school year! Find out how; plus learn about the innovative gluten-free ideas of some school districts."

Stephen presents Why Antibiotics are Damaging Your Health posted at Balanced Existence, saying, "Find out why antibiotics may be responsible for food allergies."

Alisa presents Prevalence of Food Allergies Continues to Rise, Up 18% in U.S. Kids posted at Go Dairy Free.

Amy Leger presents To "App" or not to "App" – Technology Meets Celiac Disease posted at The Savvy Celiac, saying, "Most of us love most technology, it makes our lives easier. Now technology is honing in the gluten-free market; with software that gives you product listings and it's "gluten" status. There is an extra cost — so is it worth it? We look into your options."

No need to end on a stuffy note, time for some general foodie fun ...
