Labor Day Recipes for Dairy-Free Grilling and Sharing PDF Print E-mail

Gluten-Free Peanut Butter Cookies from My Sweet VeganIn preparation for the long weekend festivities ahead, I surfed the web and our own collections to find recipes and grilling tips to make your cooking adventures more pleasurable and relaxing.   Below is an assortment of barbecue- friendly salads, snacks, cookies, and main dishes for grilling that I hope you will find useful.  All are dairy-free (of course), but many are vegan, gluten-free, and/or multiple food allergy-friendly …

On the Barbecue

Grilling 101: Grilled Vegetables - You may see a mention or two of cheese on this page, but really, this is a great guide to preparing vegetables (and which vegetables will work) on the barbecue.

Steak: Guten-Free Mommy offers a grilled Ginger Flank Steak while Talk of Tomatoes offers a different  flavor option with a Latin-spiced Rub.

Chicken: Recipezaar is a great source for sampling exotic flavors.  I was intrigued by their recipes for Grilled Moroccan Chicken, Thai Grilled Chicken Thighs, and Armenian Herb Marinade Chicken Breasts

Seafood: For some lighter fare, try some flavorful Salmon Skewers  or Chili-Spiced Grilled Halibut

Veggie: For non-meat eaters, Black Bean Veggie Burgers are the way to go.  However, those use egg as a binder, so for vegans, I recommend the Chicago Diner Burgers, which are quite tasty.

On the Table

Snacks: Always timely with her posts, Susan at Fat Free Vegan posted up three healthy, crunchy snacks that will surely fill the fried potato chips void.  Her choices include Microwave Potato Chips, Roasted Chickpeas, and Kale Chips.

Cookies: As a child, I thought that if the barbecue didn’t have cookies, then it wasn’t worth going to!  One great option that will appease everyone while still fitting egg-free, dairy-free and vegan diets is The Best Dairy, Egg, and Nut Free Chocolate Chip Cookies You Will Taste (of course). To fill up that cookie tray, you might want to include these Snickerdoodles, some Chocolaty Korova Cookies, or these super simple, gluten-free (GFCF), 4-ingredient Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

Salads: When the sun is out, so are mayonnaise and other creamy salads.  Switch to some lighter salads such as this Cool Cucumber Salad , a Snappy Crunchy (mayo-free) Coleslaw , or a Fresh Tomato Salad with Avocado and Lime.
