Living With Food Allergies Carnival of Entertaining Blog Posts PDF Print E-mail

Alisa Fleming, www.GoDairyFree.org ~ For the past many months I have been a part of a secret underground world of food allergy bloggers.  Okay, it is far from secret, and it is pretty much out there on the net available for anyone to see ... but until now I had not connected that food allergy network to Go Dairy Free, a place where it really deserves some recognition.  So this month Go Dairy Free is playing host to the Living with Food Allergies Carnival, a bi-weekly collection of blog posts on food allergies - from recipes to Disneyland adventures!  You can become a Carnie yourself, submitting your own posts to future editions, or simply follow the traveling online show to read more interesting posts related to food allergies.  But for now, without further ado, here is today's edition ....

Welcome to the July 10, 2008 edition of living with food allergies carnival.

Let's start with the fun stuff, recipes!

Nowheymama presents Summer posted at No Whey, Mama, saying, "Here is a dairy-free, nut-free crisp topping that is good on any summer fruit!"

Alisa presents Summer Barbecue Ideas without Milk, Eggs, Nuts, Gluten/Wheat, Corn, and Soy posted at Go Dairy Free.

No time or energy to cook?

Jennifer B presents A Food Allergy Friendly Restaurant Tip posted at Food Allergy Buzz, saying, "Now I understand why Red Robin restaurants are recommended in food allergy online discussion groups and bulletin boards! We were wowed by their extensive food allergy menu."

Reviews! Testing it for you.

Jennifer O'Quigley presents Children's Book Reviews posted at Comments From the Peanut Free Gallery, saying, "I did some reviews of our favorite children's books. My peanut and egg allergic son loves them, and I try to spice my reviews with some of his perspective."

Hannah Kaminsky presents Such a Teese posted at Bittersweet Blog, saying, "A full spectrum sampling of the latest dairy-free cheese alternative."

Food Allergies in the Real World

Christine presents Count me in, I guess posted at Corn Allergic - What I Reacted To Today, saying, "Dealing with a severe corn allergy and work issues, I have one other more amusing posit that i will submit since this is a bit heavy."

Christine presents Danger! Baby! posted at Corn Allergic - What I Reacted To Today, saying, "Funny post about a reaction caused by a friend's baby"

chupieandjsmama presents Florida - We've made it! posted at Our Story.

chupieandjsmama presents Day 2 - The Magic Kingdom posted at Our Story.

Food for thought ...

Shaheen Lakhan presents Food Additives, Hyperactivity, and Common Sense posted at Brain Blogger, saying, "A BMJ editorial recently covered how the EFSA did studied how some food additives lead to childhood hyperactivity. It was questioned later that there wasn't enough evidence to back this up; the studies were re-evaluated. The editorial mentioned that there is strong evidence backing up two therapies for this problem: drugs and dietary modification."

Jennifer O'Quigley presents Comments From the Peanut Free Gallery: Anaphalyxis Action Plan posted at Comments From the Peanut Free Gallery.

Leslea Harmon from allergyware.com presents Nurses uncomfortable treating allergies posted at Allergy News Blog, saying, "Nurses uncomfortable treating allergies--this came from the UK, but I'm sure they're not the only ones. TALK to your nurses! Don't assume your nurse is comfortable w/ allergies."

Alisa presents Got Milk Allergy? What the Labels (and Docs!) Don't Tell Us posted at Go Dairy Free.

That concludes this edition. Submit your blog article to the next edition of living with food allergies carnival using our carnival submission form. Past posts and future hosts can be found on our blog carnival index page.
