Hard or Sliceable Cheese Substitutes PDF Print E-mail

I added the "sliceable" as a true hard cheese subsitute can be very difficult to find.  When shopping for cheese subsitutes, beware of those that contain casein (milk protein).  Many non-dairy and soy cheeses are not in fact dairy-free.  Seek out the vegan selections to find brands made without casein.  Since casein is the primary binder in normal cheese, vegan "cheese" does tend to differ a bit in texture.  Nonetheless, brands such as Sheese offer wonderful flavor and versatility, while Follow Your Heart brand actually melts!
