McDonald's

We inquired on fryer cross-contamination, and this is the response we received from McDonald's USA, "Our restaurants make every effort to ensure that cross contamination does not occur.  All products are kept separate and are only cooked in oil with like products.  Potato, chicken and fish products are all fried separately.  We hope this information has been helpful."

However, Suzy, a GDF reader, wrote in to tell us that "Their "lemonade" drinks are dispensed from the same machine as yogurt." Milk in the lemonade? Perhaps. As usual, use caution and ask questions as needed for you!

Agh! You're right. The ingredients (or at least the honesty with ingredients) seems to change all the time at these fast food monsters! Thanks for the update.

Those in the above mentioned list are made without dairy, or I should way were at the time of last update about a month ago or so.

If you are highly sensitive though, of course cross-contamination should be a concern.

The nuggets didn't make the cut at our last review, but always check the nutrition fact link (goes straight to McDonalds) to verify current ingredient information.

Mayo very rarely, if ever contains milk products. It is usually a mixture of eggs, oil, and often some stabilizers. Yes, a creamy dairy-free indulgence!

Just checked the McDonalds website- looks like the Fries are dairy free! (Not vegan-friendly however, as they contain beef fat...)
Nuggets, sadly, are not completely dairy free (they contain whey powder)

I understand that it's in the oil, not the fries, but same difference, it's there. Also, the last two times I've gotten a grilled chicken sandwich, I've had a reaction. They supposedly us a "fake" margerine to cook them, but if for some reason they use something else, it could have dairy.

The egg mcmuffin does not seem to have dairy in it - just the cheese. So if I get an egg mcmuffin without cheese, I should be OK, right? I just looked at the ingredient list on McDonalds website.

It looks fine at this point (they often change ingredients), but may not be worth the risk of cross-contamination if you have a severe allergy

The baked apple pie in Japan has dairy. On the english menu, there's a small note that says, "Milk has been added to the allergan information." I know the US has just switched formulations of the apple pie - I wonder if this holds true for the US as well.

The regular hamburger... what about the bun? If no milk what about eggs? I thought eggs were considered dairy even though that really doesn't make sense. :sigh
