Popeye's PDF Print E-mail

Popeye's ChickenUnfortunately, Popeye's poultry batter contains milk, and it is used for dipping and frying the majority of their products. If you do get stuck with Popeye's as your only option, there are a few non-dairy choices. But as with most fast food restaurants, the risk of cross-contamination is high, especially when dairy is in so many of the menu items.

No Dairy (Milk) Ingredients (use caution due to cross-contamination potential):

  • Chicken - Naked Chicken Strips (ensure that they are not fried at your location)
  • Bread - Buns (though you won't find much to put on them!)
  • Sides - Green Beans w/out Gravy (if they can accomodate), Corn on the Cob w/out Butter (if they can accomodate), Red Beans & Rice, Cajun Rice, and Coleslaw
  • Dessert - Cinnamon Apple Turnover (double check to ensure it isn't deep fried)

No Dairy Ingredients, but Fried in Common Oil with Dairy-Containing Menu Items:

  • Sides - French Fries (the shortening used to fry does contain beef)

Potentially No Dairy Ingredients:

  • They offer their Mild Chicken and Spicy Chicken "Skinless and Breading Removed." There obviously could be some cross-contamination issues with dairy for this chicken, but it may be a viable option for those who are less sensitive.
