Wendy'sGo Dairy Free viewer Beth had this to say about Wendy's: "To avoid cross-contamination, we order items as plain as possible (they use the same spoon to spread the ketchup and mayo, for example; this is an issue for those with an egg allergy).  My boys have severe dairy allergies (among others) and we've never had a problem eating at Wendy's [but use your best judgement for your own family!].  I like how they list all their ingredients (not just an allergen chart) so you know how to modify an order to make it dairy-free (like, "no cheese")."

Note: As of September 2011, Wendy's is using buttered buns on most of their burgers and sandwiches. Be sure to ask before you order to ensure that whatever you are ordering has not been buttered or has any other type of dairy.

By November 2011, Wendy's was planning to roll out the buttered buns to their Kids menu too, but at the time of our last review, a new allergen chart with information reflecting this had not yet been posted (note our date of last review below). The list below reflects the allergen chart after the buttered-bun announcement, but we can't verify that they won't start using those buns on the remaining items including the kids menu. So ask!

Wendy's website indicates that French Fries may be cooked in the same oil as other products containing milk-- if you have a severe allergy/intolerance you should avoid their fries.

On the Wendy's website...how are you finding the ingredients in their products? For instance, how did you know what type of oil they use to cook their fries? Thanks!

Click on the Nutrition Facts link above. It will take you to the Wendy's Menu. When you select a section, there will be a little tiny nutrition facts button. That will take you to the ingredients. They really make it easy to find :roll . I am not sure where susan got the info about cooking in the same oil. If you don't see it on the site, you may want to shoot them off a quick email.

I am not sure how to read these lists....is the items on these lists considered safe for dairy free?

You should never consider any product "safe" for dairy-free in a fast food restaurant. There will always be high risk for cross-contamination.

That being said, this is a list of (as of our last update that we reviewed from the company or their website) a list of the items made without dairy ingredients. You can click through the nutrition facts link to get more information from the company's website.

It looks like, in Canada, the Crispy Chicken Nuggets don't have dairy in them

I am at the beginning stages dealing with my diagnosis of lactose intolerant. I ordered a jr hamburger, and fries. I got sick. I believe there was most likely cross contamination OR the rolls have butter/dairy in them. My allergy may be stronger than I realize.

They have "lactylates" which are rarely a dairy concern, and Wendy's does not note "contains milk" (only wheat) on their allergen statement. For severe allery concerns, I would contact them directly.

They don\'t have those new items published on their website yet, so couldn\'t tell you. We should be able to update when they do.
