Okay, the big slabs of ice cream are off limits.  As to be expected, their sorbets are dairy-free (though there is a very high risk for cross-contamination).  The main reason they made our suggested list, is for their good selection of non-dairy smoothies.  They offer eight varieties (at last check) all of which are already non-dairy, or can be made non-dairy (soymilk in place of the yogurt).

Check their website (www.coldstonecreamery.com) for a store locator.

:( We went to a Cold Stone around Christmas, and they had NO sorbet - so no smoothies either. No dairy-free options whatsoever. We were told that they had taken sorbet off the menu temporarily to feature special holiday ice cream flavors.

What a rip! :?
I will call them to find out if it is select franchise locations, or if it has been pulled everywhere. Thanks Alice!

At our local Cold Stone here in Oregon City Oregon there is always one dairy-free option. This past time there was Raspberry Ice... they've had Lemon Ice before and at least one other kind too. I don't recall there ever being more than one choice at a time, but as someone still new to lactose-intolerance, I'm just tickled there's something for which I don't have to take a pill. I'd check into whether or not they're all independently-run franchises, because if so, they may have a great deal of latitude in what flavors they offer.

Our Cold Stone usually has two sorbets. I think one time they were out. They WILL BTW use a clean "brownie pan" on top of the slab to make sure of no cross-contamination. I don't have that problem and I'm sure it wouldn't be enough for the extreme allergic, but I had them do that for my dad who's allergic to strawberries in case the area had been used with strawberries and they were happy to do it. Sometimes you get the weird looks and have to explain yourself and other times (different people) they get it right away. I just now know to ask for them to use a clean brownie pan on top for allergic reasons.
