U.S. - Multiple Locations - Roy's PDF Print E-mail

My husband had the opportunity to dine at the original Roy's in Hawaii in his youth, but we finally made it back for a visit now that it has become a chain.  Some out of town guests requested to go to the restaurant here in Las Vegas, and we happily obliged.

I emailed the restaurant a few days in advance of our visit to request seafood items on their menu that were made without dairy.  They responded that all of the fish items can be prepared without sauce.  A very lame answer, really.  I am not sure why I would want to pay $25 for a plain slab of fish.  When I clarified that I would like to eat a dish as it is intended to be prepared, they responded with a surprisingly short list of two fish entrees (there are other dairy-free items on the menu, but I wanted fish in particular).  Nonetheless, I found them very helpful and professional about meeting my needs.

Our friends loved the food.  We found it to be fair, but not spectacular.  Yet, the excellent wait-staff and atmosphere kept us pleased with the overall experience.

Considering that I have gone to some of the very finest restaurants in Vegas and they have drawn a blank stare at a simple request for dairy-free, I do have to give Roy's corporate and regional staff two thumbs up for customer service.
