A special report from the informational blog and website AllergySense - Parents keep a watchful eye on their allergic children, making sure that they know what their child is eating, where is came from and how it was prepared. So what would permit parents like Karen Danard to send their children miles away where they can no longer supervise, let alone have any contact? Summer camp. Danard’s peanut-allergic son has been attending summer camps for the past ten years. Sending allergic children to summer camp can be a very nerve-racking decision for parents to make. It was a big step for Danard when her son wanted to go to his first overnight summer camp. “He had never actually been on his own like that before,” she says ... |

Cruzer Pizza Sees Overall Sales Soar 63 Percent within First Month of Introducing Vegan Pies with Daiya Cheese Alternative - For years, food manufacturers have searched far and wide for the Holy Grail of mainstream vegan cuisine: a non-dairy cheese substitute which stretches, melts and tastes so much like the real thing even cheese lovers can’t tell the difference. I have been a big fan of the magazine Today's Diet & Nutrition for years. In fact, I may have been one of their first subscribers. Focused on healthy living, the magazine frequently offers articles and recipes for special dieters. So I was thrilled and honored when they requested to interview me for a feature article they were doing on lactose intolerance. That full length article can now be viewed in the July / August 2009 issue of Today's Diet & Nutrition.
Written by Carol M. Bareuther, RD, the article focuses on defining lactose intolerance, offers information for diagnosis, and shares tips on cutting back on lactose, getting proper nutrition, shopping, and cooking. Within the article you will find bites of information from my years of dairy-free experience as well as several excerpts from Go Dairy Free: The Guide and Cookbook. The magazine is available in stores throughout the U.S., so pick up a copy if you don't already have a subscription (which I highly recommend)! ... |
