Calling all Vegan Teens! The Vegetarian Resource Group is offering two $5000 scholarships each year to graduating U.S. high school students who have promoted vegetarianism in their schools and/or communities. The current scholarship awards are open to high school seniors who will be graduation in the spring of 2008. The deadline for submisssion is February 20, 2008, but they are already accepting applications. See the VRG website for more details. |

I know, we are coming to the end of "cool and creamy" season. However, when I read that sales of smoothies have escalated in recent years, I couldn't pass up this newsworthy opportunity to share some fruit smoothie tidbits and recipes. Frankly, I will sit at my desk, wrapped up in a blanket (quite literally) spooning an ice cold beverage or dessert in the dead of winter.
