Dairy and Acne

Anonymous ~ I grew up on milk, I would have it everyday.  I developed horrible painful acne around the age of 13 so my mom took me to a dermatologist who told me that it was impossible for food to give me acne.  She then proceeded to give me Accutane.  The Accutane did work for a while.  I had an allergy scratch test and found out I was allergic to milk as well as many other foods.  As soon as I eliminated the milk my acne went away and I dropped 10 pounds.  What a stupid doctor that women was.  NO ONE should go on Accutane it is horrible.  I have milk sometimes but when I do about 5 days later I will get a huge pimple.  Not sure why it takes 5 days to pop up.

Not My Normal Anymore (Lactose Intolerance)

Nzie ~ It's kind of amazing how fast strange things become "normal," atleast for me.  Last winter (12/2008) I finally realised that my "normal" was seriously abnormal.

For atleast a year and a half, maybe more, I felt sick a lot.  Every day or nearly every day, I had bad gas, cramps, shivers, and a real "fun" time in the bathroom and other varied bathroom-related effects.  But I adapt to things quickly, so I just started making adjustments, plan this that way, check for XYZ, etc.

It was in the back of my mind that this wasn't right, but it took a year and a half to do any research.  I'd been to Africa for 5 weeks with my university and been sick from my (otherwise fantastic!) host family's food every day, so I thought maybe I had a parasite or something worse ...

Good Bye Milk...Forever!!!

Taby ~ It's been two weeks since I first heard about the link between milk and dairy and two weeks since I went off dairy completely. Nothing has ever made my very bad cystic acne go away like this. I wasn't huge on dairy, since I'm lactose intolerant. But I did take the pills every now and then and I had a bowl of cereal every morning with lactose free milk. I'm now on rice milk only and no dairy ever. My skin is almost completely free of any acne at all. Almost all my blackheads are gone as well. It seems like my skin is in the healing stage. It's pushing all the dirt and stuff out of my pores. I've fought with this for 20 years. I've bought everything out there and even did home made "solutions". Nothing worked. But this does and I've never been happier. I can't wait to see what my skin will look like in another two weeks!!!

Finding the solution after many years of suffering

Christina ~ For many years I have suffered. Having many headaches and migraines as a young child with no reason why, stomaches, hives, rashes, ecsema, unexplained itching, later in life (20's) I was diagnosed with IBS & Acid Reflux after spending at least 3 nights a week up, sick all night. I also started to get more irritable and my pms was getting worse.

Two years ago I went in for allergy testing. I didn't ask to be tested for milk, after all I grew up on milk, lived on a farm, how could I be allergic? They tested foods because I knew that walnuts produced blisters in my mouth. They went ahead and tested all foods. To my surprise Milk came back as a possible allergy ...

Nursing a Milk-Allergic Baby and Weight Loss

Anonymous ~ At two months, my daughter was diagnosed with a dairy and soy allergy. I took all dairy and soy out of my diet immediately and kept nursing. She is happy and flourishing, and I've lost a full 100 lbs since her birth! Now she's 10 months, doing well, and nursing happily. With the great weight loss, two dairy-allergic kids, one on the Autism Spectrum and one with ADHD, we're loving being dairy-free!

Acne and Dairy

Anonymous ~ I just wanted to share something that changed my life.  When I was younger, I had regular acne, but in my early/mid 20s, I started to get really bad, cystic acne.  The big painful multi-headed, slow to surface, recurring type.  Sure, it looked bad, but mostly I just was sick of my face hurting all the time.  I went to a dermatologist, who prescribed a face wash/topical solution (I was and still am afraid of Accutane).  It did nothing for the cystic acne.  Neither did Proactive.  Note: My mother also had this problem, starting in her 20s.  We thought it was just hereditary ...

Discovering it was a Milk Allergy, After 17 Years of Symptoms

Kim ~ I am not really sure where to start, but I would love to share my story with other people. Since I was 15, I suffered from severe migraines. After years of added symptoms which included dizziness, fatigue, swelling, heart palpitations, insomnia, sweating.... the list goes on and on....I decided enough was enough. Medical treatment's and tests always came back perfectly normal, sometimes too normal. On paper I was in perfect health! MRI's and ultrasounds all came back with normal results ...

Abigail's Milk Allergy

Amber ~ Hi I'm new to the allergy game. We just got done with a 5 day hospital stay due to milk allergy. For the longest time I heard milk allergy and thought lactose intolerant. You know gassy, bloaty, maybe uncomfortable. My youngest had an intolerance, we put her on soy she was fine, we switched her to milk at 18 months and she was fine. I had heard about kids who had weird poop and a couple other things but we never had any of those issues so I didn't pay much attention to it ...
