No Dairy, No Acne!

Hannah ~ I gave up dairy about two weeks ago after repeated instances of being keeled over in stomach pain after dairy consumption. Within a few days, I noticed my skin rapidly clear up and now it is completely clear! I have struggled with chronic acne since I was about 10 (currently 21 years old), and it is such an amazing relief to not have to stress about it anymore. I will be dairy free for the rest of my life!

Dairy-Free and Never Been Better!

Caitlin ~ When I was a baby, I was allergic to milk. After about age 2, the doctor said I could drink it again. For the next few years, I had constant ear infections, but no one seemed to correlate it with the milk allergy.

When I got into middle school, I began having random rashes every once in a while behind my ears, and would break out in hives. I went to the doctor and of course they just gave me some hydrocortisone cream, and things slowly got better ...

Self Diagnosis: Joint and Bone Pain Caused by Dairy

Izabella ~ I just wanted to share this with you as recently something happened to me that is amazing. I am 39 years of age, a mother of 2 girls, and for the past 10 years or so, have suffered severe pain, in my joints, and all over my body in spurts. But the worst pain is in my left and right hips which alternate with severe pain (can hardly walk or sleep type of pain), and its quite unbearable. I went off dairy a couple of years ago and low and behold the pain in my joints and hips started to disappear. I really didn't 'get it' - that it was because of dairy that the pain went away, and have been on soy products and nut milks until a few weeks ago. My family and I went back on dairy and - within a week, guess what returned in my body??

Yep, the pain in my hips but this time it was more painful than ever....so, once again, I 'didn't really click up there in my head' that dairy may be the cause, and besides I thought it did not taste very nice anyway and thought, yuk, i really don't like dairy, I think i'll go back to my soy ...

Dairy-Free and "Ache" Free

Lisa ~ I am so excited to find your website. I am definitely very similar to the personal stories I read on your website. I had chronic headaches and stomachaches for my entire life until the age of 28. I was misdiagnosed with an ulcer. Then had chronic sinusitus which almost resulted in sinus surgery. I also was on prednisone for flare ups. It wasn't until I saw my third allergist/immunologist that finally tested me for an allergy to dairy. I cut it out for two weeks and was a new person. All of headaches, stomachaches and nasal issues completely went away. I have never been so happy in my life! My husband used to think I was too sensitive but now he feels bad because he realizes it was a real allergy.

No more Animal Products!

Genesis ~ My whole life I’ve had nothing but chronic stomachaches. It wasn’t until I was 18 yrs old that I realized that normal life did not include stomachaches after every meal.  I realized I was tired of trying different medications and different doctors because no one could ever figure out what was wrong with me. and they would just "disguise the pain" with different pills. I started having bone/ joint pains, to the point where i thought I had arthritis! I came to a low point where life was too painful to bear. I felt like taking medications was unnecessary. Our bodies are alive and absorb and digest everything we ingest. I didn’t want to pollute my body with toxins/ meds/ or anything not natural in any way ...

Always Dairy Free

Raina ~ Being dairy free has been basically life-long.  My Mom decided not to give me dairy until I was 2 years old, when a doctor told her that I would die without it. I consumed dairy products until one day, in first grade, I had a huge ice cream sundae and a cupcake. I sat down on the kitchen floor, screaming and crying. I told my Mom, "I don't know why I'm doing this, but I don't think I should eat dairy!" I have never eaten dairy since.

I am now 15 years old and I'm perfectly happy with my almost-vegan diet (I don't eat meat either). People often ask me, "What do you eat?!" Well, I eat what anyone else eats, only minus the meat and dairy. It's not that hard. I've been through many frustrating food pyramid lessons and birthday parties, but now I've finally realized that I don't mind as much as I thought I did. It's my life, and a healthy one at that.

MSPI Baby

Nikki ~ I have never been Lactose Intollerant, but in August I had a baby. After 10 weeks of what I thought was colic, she was diagnosed with a Milk Soy Protein Intolerance. My choices were to put her on a special pricey formula or change my diet. I do not regret changing my diet one bit! I feel better about myself, and the baby, now 6 months old has never been happier! The crying, screaming, and sleepless nights ended after I eliminated diary- the whole family and I are making the switch! My acne has subsided greatly, I have more energy, the weight is falling off with ease, I feel better. Its amazing the difference it has made in our lives. My 3 year old drinks Almond milk regularly, and I can't believe how easy the lifestyle swap was! Its been an amazing discovery and a fun journey so far.

Adult Milk Allergy

Liana ~ I have a similar testimony to Alisa, the author of Go Dairy Free.  I was milk allergic as a child and the doctors said I would grow out of it.  I have been eating milk for 40 years. I have always had chronic sinusitis since my early 20's including constant post nasal drip. Most recently I had developed adult acne, fatigue and and joint pain.  I mentioned to a friend how tired I was with the constant post nasal drip; clearing my throat all the time. My friend said that she only got that from food allergies. I later remembered that I was allergic to milk as a newborn and went on a dairy elimination diet the next day. Sure enough--my sinusitis, fatigue, joint pain and acne all cleared up almost within 48 hours!  I have the Go Dairy Free book and it gave me some quick ideas for instantly converting my diet.  The website it great too!
