Acne and Dairy PDF Print E-mail

Anonymous ~ I just wanted to share something that changed my life.  When I was younger, I had regular acne, but in my early/mid 20s, I started to get really bad, cystic acne.  The big painful multi-headed, slow to surface, recurring type.  Sure, it looked bad, but mostly I just was sick of my face hurting all the time.  I went to a dermatologist, who prescribed a face wash/topical solution (I was and still am afraid of Accutane).  It did nothing for the cystic acne.  Neither did Proactive.  Note: My mother also had this problem, starting in her 20s.  We thought it was just hereditary ...

Finally, last year, my father-in-law mentioned that his mother had the same problem back in the '20s-'30's.  Her doctor told her to quit eating cheese.  I have since cut all cheese and butter (dairy fat), and most all milk from my diet.  I still occasionally use 1% milk for cooking (half soy milk-half milk for a given recipe).  I cannot convey how glad I am to have done this.  My skin is cystic acne free, but if I give in to cheesy temptation, I pay dearly in just a few days :(

I hope this helps anyone out there in their quest for cystic acne free skin.
