For anyone concerned about “missing out” on the nutrients of milk, Pacific Foods Ultra Soy Milk may be for you. Per serving it contains 4g of fat, 10g of protein, 14g of carbs, 380mg of potassium, 10% RDA for Vitamin A, 50% RDA for Calcium, 25% RDA for Vitamin D, 30% RDA for Riboflavin, 25% RDA for Vitamin B12, and more. This super-fortified beverage even seems to rival milk in creaminess. To disclose, I do not typically consume soymilk, nor does my family – but, since so many viewers do, I like to include reviews on such products whenever possible. When I did drink soymilk, I typically reached for Silk brand, though I can say the taste of Pacific’s Ultra Soy easily rivals Silk. The Plain Ultra Soy is very lightly sweetened – just enough to make it quite pleasant with cereal, but not so much that it wouldn’t slide by in some savory recipes. It had a very nice creamy texture and that slight beany soy taste, but it wasn’t overpowering. The Vanilla Ultra Soy contains a touch more evaporated cane juice per serving (9g vs 8g of sugars), but coupled with the vanilla, it had a much sweeter vibe to my taste buds. This was actually good atop my unsweetened breakfast oats. In fact, I may have gone a touch overboard on the soymilk … I also trialed it in a strawberry breakfast smoothie, and the result was nice, rich, and sweet … If we were soy consumers, Pacific would definitely be a contender for my family. However, I would hesitate on the Ultra Soy brand since it is sweetened (we try to stick with unsweetened milk alternatives) and the higher protein content comes from soy protein isolate, and I feel a bit better about soymilks that are just made with whole organic soybeans, such as their Organic Original. But, if you are seeking a “beefed up” soymilk that can rival milk in nutritional content, vitamins, and minerals, while delivering on taste and texture, I would consider Ultra Soy.
