So Delicious Creamy Cultured Soy (Yogurt) (Vegan) PDF Print E-mail

I must admit, dairy-free yogurt has come a long ways. Once inedible, various brands are now rivaling dairy yogurt in taste and texture. And of course, Turtle Mountain is not one to be left behind in the dairy substitute arena. In addition to their coconut milk yogurt, they have come out with So Delicious Soy Yogurt.

I sampled the Vanilla and the Original (which I can no longer find on their website; probably for good reason).

So Delicious Vanilla Soy Yogurt

The Vanilla was mostly emulsified, but still needed a little stir to mix in the liquids at the surface. It didn't appear completely smooth (perhaps due to the thickener), but was actually quite smooth to taste. The taste was good, with just a wee bit more tartness than their coconut line, but still less tart than traditional dairy yogurt.

Aside from taking a few little tastes, I used the yogurt to make the Mango Lassi in Vegan Brunch. It was delicious!

I tried the Original, which tasted okay, but not great. It lacked in sweetness, and wasn't really appealing to simply eat as a breakfast or snack. But perhaps in recipes it would be a better performer ... that is if they are actually still selling it!

Though the Vanilla soy yogurt was pretty good, the So Delicious Coconut Milk Yogurt would still be my first choice for taste, and since we consume very little soy. But, for those seeking a soy yogurt (or an option that is a little lower in fat and a little higher in protein), this is an excellent option.
