St. Dalfour – Cinnamon Apple Green Tea (Vegan, Gluten-Free, Nut-Free, Soy-Free) PDF Print E-mail

My taste buds could be off, but if I didn’t look at the package, I would think it was a lightly orange inspired tea.  I love cinnamon, so perhaps my taste buds have numbed to milder amounts of the spice, but I really didn’t detect cinnamon in this tea.  I suppose the apple was present, but I had mistaken it for orange … though one would think these two very distinct flavors would not be easily confused.

Overall it really is a mild green tea, pleasant and quite palatable in the morning.  I confess that I do love the flavor injected (yet not sweetened) Celestial Seasonings teas.  This is certainly no comparison to those in terms of taste.  This is a more sophisticated brew and a pleasant green tea experience.  I do find some green teas bitter, lifeless, or just plain disgusting, but this is pure, just as a green tea should be.  Of course, the whole “organic” bit really throws them over the top.

While I wouldn’t pay a premium for this tea, on sale at $2.50 for a 25 tea bag box, I would consider it a fair deal, and good quality for a tea bag.

Of course, if you can’t taste how good the St. Dalfour brand is, then they will tell you.  An insert in the box (and the ink-riddled box itself) gives you explicit detailing on why their teas are so wonderful.  It is obvious that the “organic” part of this tea focuses on health in every way.  No chemicals leaching into your tea, more antioxidant rich product, etc.  While they do note the eco-friendly paper used on all of their tea bags, I would hesitate to call this an eco-friendly brand.  The gratuitous insert is unnecessary, and uses up paper, eco or not, and really, it is hard to consider tea bags eco when one could easily invest in loose tea … but those neatly packed bags are convenient and required at times.  So I suppose I won’t mark them down for this!

St. Dalfour Organic Tea

As an interesting note, the company is French, and the tea is from Sri Lanka, reportedly the Himalayas. They also boast this as an excellent brew for iced tea.  Since it is past iced tea season, we won’t be trialing this until the heat of summer returns, but just thought I would mention it.

St. Dalfour Teas are available in most natural food stores and grocers.  Visit the St. Dalfour website for more information.
