Ener-G Light Tapioca Loaf (Vegan, Gluten-Free, Soy-Free, Sugar-Free) PDF Print E-mail
The bakers at Ener-G are not kidding when they say “Light” bread.  The entire loaf weighs just 8 ounces, and one slice will only set you back 70 calories.  Adults will love these snack-sized portions, and kids will enjoy eating a whole sandwich for themselves as each slice is perfectly sized for little hands.

The flavor of the Tapioca Loaf was very mild and it had an aftertaste that was quite similar to traditional white bread.  Overall, it went with just about everything, butter flavored spreads, jam, peanut butter, honey, you name it.  Though it was gluten-free, the bread held together fairly well.  We were able to enjoy it as the base for chunkier sandwiches, such as tuna fish, without a single collapse.

This bread is the gluten-free answer to healthy white toast.  It is suitable for almost any diet, from vegan to sugar-free to kosher.  It has a very unique dry and brittle texture, which is delightful once toasted.  In fact, my husband had no idea it was gluten-free.

  • Pros:  Vegan; Gluten-free; Soy-free; Sugar-free; Kosher Parve; Suitable for most diets; There is a touch of calcium in each slice (40mg)
  • Cons:  It has a very dry texture; Contains yeast

Recommended For:

  • Toast
  • Kid’s Sandwiches
  • Gluten-Free / Casein-Free Individuals

Where to Buy:

  • Online – Direct from Ener-G, but they are much cheaper on Amazon
  • In Store - Sold in stores throughout the U.S., Canada, and the U.K.
