Island Gluten-Free Hamburger Buns (Gluten-Free, Soy-Free) PDF Print E-mail

I received a nice big box of goodies from Island Gluten-Free Bakery in Sarasota, FL, which included breads, muffins, and other yummy things.

Since I havda huge stockpile of Amy's Bistro burgers I decided to start with the Hamburger Bun. After all, what good is a Bistro burger without some nice yummy bread to go with it?

Check out the nutrition label! Not too bad! A little higher in fat than a usual hamurgler bun, but no sugar and 3g of fiber make this one already a winner in my book. I took it out of the freezer and put it in my lunch box to defrost. I think with gluten-free stuff you should bring it to room temp and then cook how you want it. I toasted mine.

I was dying to see if Island's could live up to it's claim that you wouldn't be able to tell it was GF. I cracked it open and ... ten points because this didn't crumble ONE bit. Another ten points because it didn't fall apart in the toaster!
I heated up my nice little bistro burger and doused it in spicy brown mustard.

Look at how yummy this looks!!!!! Seriously! I was so excited!

First bite in I was in burger heaven. The bread was sweet- almost treat like- it kind of reminded me of Kinnickinnick breads. I'm not sure if it's the flour combination that does it or what?? But score right there for taste- even though this didn't taste like a $1.99 bag of hamburger buns from Stop & Shop. It was more like a nice gourmet hamburger bun you would find in an "upscale" burger joint. Nicely done! Another 800 points because it didn't fall apart with the mustard on it! A lot of GF bread falls apart if it gets "wet" (don't know why) but this one held on and tasted fantastic! Loved it! I paired this with my Tupper Fruit Salad.
