My husband and I have been fans of Endangered Species chocolate bars for years.  Admittedly, Endangered Species isn’t what I would call a top shelf chocolate.  There are some rich dark chocolates that have really knocked my socks off.  But, for a mass-produced all natural chocolate with a conscience that is readily available in stores, in a variety of flavors, it is definitely one of our favorites. 

While I do enjoy picking up a diverse assortment of their dark bars whenever on sale, it never fails that the Mint version is always polished off first … so I thought it was about time that I write a review on it!

The chocolate itself is deep and dark (70%) with just a slight bitter aftertaste that keeps it from completely accomplishing a truly “smooth” dark flavor.  Yet the mint flavor melds perfectly for a deliciously enjoyable experience.  

In general, I love the small scored pieces that make sharing and guilt-free enjoyment easy (even if we end up polishing off the bar in ten minutes).   Also, of special note is the wrapper.  Don’t toss that recycled paper too quickly.  The inside often houses a coupon for your next purchase.  Ah yes, purchasing.  I have yet to come across a natural food grocer that didn't carry at least a few of the dark bars from Endangered Species.  Even many of the mainstream grocers have gotten in on the act.  I recommend checking their store locator and keeping an eye out for sales.  But, if you just don't have time, and need that chocolate mint fix, then you can purchase them online from Endangered Species.
