YummyEarth Artisanal Candies (Vegan, Gluten-Free, Nut-Free, Soy-Free) PDF Print E-mail

For years this hard candy-loving girl somehow escaped the clutches of YummyEarth. Don't ask me how I kept myself from purchasing those inexpensive mega-packs of these organic candies - sheer willpower I tell you. I think it all started with the fact that I'm not a big fan of lollipops, and that was the core line in the early days of YummyEarth. I knew these suckers would be good, darn good, but I much prefer drops to pops. However, over the years, the YummyEarth product line has exploded with new options. And finally, this winter, I hit my breaking point. I spotted their cute, gift-worthy bags of artisanal candy (sans stick) and couldn't hold out a second longer.

My initial options were limited to the Wild Peppermint and Razzmatazz Berry flavors, but I wasn't complaining; though these aren't my absolute favorite candy flavors, I love mints and have only met a few candy varieties that I really didn't like.

First up was the Wild Peppermint. I reached for it first, as it sounded like the perfect post-meal sweet after I had eaten a rather large lunch ...

You know those extra-strong little tiny mints that some fine restaurants give you with the bill? These were them. Only somewhat creamier and about 5 times the size! Holy mint these babies are strong. A little too strong for my regular sugar cravings, but these are the perfect gift for anyone on your list who loves their mints with some extra fire power.

Wild Peppermint Ingredients: Organic Evaporated Cane Juice, Organic Brown Rice Syrup, Natural Flavors

By late afternoon, my stomach had settled and I was craving a little something sweet, so I reached for those Razzmatazz Berry candies. These were absolutely delicious. They didn't ambush my tastebuds like the Wild Peppermint, but were still rich with flavor. I loved how you could really taste the berry flavor (no chemical aftertaste), which was sweet and slightly tart, just as any good raspberry confection should be.

RazzMatazz Berry Ingredients: Organic Evaporated Cane Juice, Organic Brown Rice Syrup, Non-GMO Citric Acid (from beet sugar – not corn), Natural Flavors, Organic Black Carrots, Organic Blackcurrant, Organic Apple

As pictured below, these artisanal candies are individually wrapped and come in adorable 6-ounce bags that retail for around $4 to $5 a piece. I spotted them in Whole Foods, but they are also available via many online retailers (and can even arrive before Christmas!). Like all YummyEarth candies, these are free of the top eight allergens (no dairy, eggs, wheat, soy, tree nuts, or peanuts), certified gluten-free, certified kosher, and vegan.

The only problem I foresee with these candies, is that once I find my perfect flavors, I will probably be purchasing jumbo bags like these. The next flavors on my "to buy" list are the Hopscotch Butterscotch, Roadside Rootbeer and Orange Squeeze. You can see all YummyEarth candy varieties and flavors on their website, www.yummyearth.com.
