Eco-Planet Organic Cookies – New Oatmeal (Vegan) PDF Print E-mail

The first Eco-Planet products to hit store shelves contained organic cookies in those cute animal cookie sized boxes.  They were so successful, that new larger 6-ounce packages of cookies have been added to the Eco-Planet line-up.  The larger cookie boxes come in Vanilla and Oatmeal.  The Vanilla seemed to be the same cookies as those found in the lunchbox size, so there is no reason for me to re-review.  You can check out my vanilla raves at the other Eco-Planet Organic Cookie review.  But… the Oatmeal cookies are new!

Really, they looked very similar to the vanilla and cinnamon, so I wasn’t sure how the little wafers could taste like oat cookies…

Eco-Planet Oat Cookies

As I opened the package a strong vanilla scent wafted from the bag with a delightful sweetness.  With my first bite I immediately noticed the heartier taste and feel, with a definite “oaty” finish.  They were crisp, yet as the wafer dissolved in my mouth, little bits of oats emerged.  They added a unique texture twist and an oatmeal flavor to the pleasantly mild sweetness.

The larger sized box made me feel okay about indulging in these cookies as an adult snack, rather than feeling like I was stealing a box of animal cookies from my niece.  In fact, they were excellent with tea! I would describe them as a cross between an animal cracker and an English Biscuit, with the perfect crispness of the latter.  They were sweet enough for little taste buds, but not too sweet for my low sugar appetite.

Honestly, I found them to be a bit addicting, and apparently, I wasn’t the only one.  My dad came over the day after the box was opened.  After staring at it for a good ten minutes, he finally piped up and requested a few of our Eco-Planet Cookies.  To which my husband responded, “sorry, I finished the last ones just before you got here.” Sheesh, not even the decency to discard of the evidence!

My Extra Notes & Tips:

  • Considering all of their healthy qualities, and the fact that the only top allergens in the ingredients are wheat and soy, it would be great if they could make them on dedicated equipment for all of the children with nut, egg, and dairy allergies, but alas, they are not at this time.

Where to Buy:  These cookies are making there way into many natural food stores and Whole Foods.  Keep an eye on the Eco-Planet website for future distribution details.  Several Eco-Planet products are sold on Amazon.
