Eco-Planet Organic Cookies - Vanilla & Cinnamon (Vegan) **Top Pick** PDF Print E-mail

~~ 5 Star Selection from Go Dairy Free ~~

This product was chosen by our staff as a top pick for quality and taste.

Animal cookies may be just for kids, but Eco-Planet Cookies are for everyone.  We had enough boxes to trial with many tasters, big and small.  The big kids (a.k.a. adults) liked the crispy nature of these little cookies, referring to traditional animal cookies as soggy.  The little kids were very intrigued with the fun environmentally friendly shapes.  A few proceeded to sort them, line them up, trade them, and after the excitement wore off…they ate them…all of them.  In fact, one hungry 2-year old tike devoured two whole boxes!

Though both flavors of the Eco-Planet Cookies tasted great, like the little kids I was obsessed with their intricate shapes.  They are bigger than what I remember of their circus ancestors, maybe twice the size.  The windmill is well detailed and even has a cute little lightening bolt on it; so does the car; the sun is smiling, and even winking at me while I eat it; and the earth, well that says it all.

From a health perspective, each box contains just 10 grams of sugar, 6 grams of fat, and about 200 calories.  The ingredients are vegan (no dairy, eggs, or other animal products), certified USDA organic, and kosher pareve (Kof-K).

From an environmental perspective, each box is made from 100% recycled paperboard.  A very thin little plastic package, keeps the cookies fresh on the inside.  Little messages all over the box offer websites to learn more about the environment, very cool.  To top it off, Heaven Scent (Eco-Planet) is a “1% member for the planet” donating a portion of sales to the natural environment.

Flavors We Trialed:

  • Vanilla – These are lightly sweet with just a hint of vanilla flavor.
  • Cinnamon – I detected just a bit of cinnamon.  It was pleasant, though no one found it overwhelming.

Pros:  Incredibly well-detailed shapes; Relatively low in sugars; Great taste and crispness; Portable; Environmentally friendly in every way; Affordably priced
Cons:  Considering all of their healthy qualities, and the fact that the only top allergens in the ingredients are wheat and soy, it would be great if they could make them on dedicated equipment for all of the children with nut, egg, and dairy allergies.

Recommended For:

  • Family Outings (from camping to Disneyland)
  • Afternoon Snacks
  • Lunchboxes

Where to Buy:

  • In Stores – Whole Foods throughout the U.S.; Other stores as distribution expands
