Kookie Karma Holistic Chip Cookies (Vegan, Gluten-Free) PDF Print E-mail
Wow, what a unique twist on the chocolate chip cookie!  Kookie Karma once again surprises with a creative selection of healthy ingredients that are nearly impossible to guess.  These cookies are sweet and indulgent yet packed with nutritional merits.

Kookie Karma describes their holistic line as an excellent “transitional” cookie for those who have little tasting experience in the world of raw foods.  It is lightly baked for a more cookie-like texture.  We quickly learned that holistic does not mean light and fluffy, quite the opposite in fact.  Almond meal, almond butter, brown rice, coconut, and chia seeds (a little known superfood) provide the dense base to these cookies.

The texture is thick and chewy, a bit like cookie dough.  The flavor is very sweet with a good dose of coconut that is kept in check by the addition of carob or chocolate chips.

We have included both the carob chip and the chocolate chip holistic cookies in one review, as they are identical beyond the chip flavor.  Both were delicious, and the carob chip variety offered a great change of pace.  Larger chocolate/carob chunks or a few more of the chips would be our only request.

These cookies were created with special diets in mind.  Sweetened primarily with birch tree xylitol, and just a touch of agave nectar, the holistic line is an excellent option for diabetics.  Though you need not be on a special diet to enjoy these tasty treats!

  • Pros:  Vegan; Gluten-free; Soy-free; High in protein; Trans fat-free; Very low in sugars; Only 8 net carbs
  • Cons:  Very sweet aftertaste

Recommended For:

  • Snackers Seeking a Heartier Chocolate Chip Cookie
  • Coconut Fans
  • Diabetics
  • Vegan and Low-Carb Dieters
