MacroTreats - Carob Fudge (Organic, Vegan) |

The carob flavor of this Treat is a unique and refreshing change from the traditional chocolate-based cookie. I highly enjoyed the subtle chocolate taste, which was less heavy and sweet than one might expect. This Treat also has somewhat of a “Fig Newton” feel, but unlike their Cherry Serendipity Treat it leans slightly towards the crumbly, old-fashioned cookie side. The chopped walnuts add a nice, contrasting flavor, and help to break the texture up. Since the calories, fat, sugars, and protein were all in check (for a huge cookie), I trialed this as an afternoon snack with tea. While perusing the label, I was shocked to discover that a single Treat contains a whopping 10 grams of fiber. I would pick their Carob Fudge Cookie over prunes any day! - Pros: Vegan; Organic; Free from refined sugars or flours; Compliments the Macrobiotic Diet; Excellent fiber source; Good source of calcium (100mg)
- Cons: Carob flavor and unique texture may be particular to certain tastes
Recommended For: - An Afternoon Treat
- Macrobiotic Dieters
- Fiber Seekers
Overall MacroTreat Review: Go Macro Treats are truly inspirational cookies, free of refined sugars and flours, dairy, eggs, hydrogenated oils, additives, and preservatives. High quality is evident right down to the organic grains and sweeteners. The creators of Macro Treats have strictly adhered to the increasingly popular Macrobiotic Diet (think Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow) to produce unrefined, whole and natural indulgences. In fact, even the chocolate chips utilized in some of the Treats are grain sweetened. These soft, jumbo-sized cookies are each very unique in their taste and texture, which is why we have broken the reviews down by flavor.
