Nana’s (JUMBO) No Wheat Cookies - Chocolate Chip (Vegan, Wheat-Free) PDF Print E-mail

Mmmm…cookie dough!  This hearty indulgence melted with a rich doughy flavor that I couldn’t seem to get enough of.  More substantial than your typical chocolate chip variety, Nana combines the flavor of oats and all natural ingredients for a delicious twist on the original.

Like all of Nana’s popular cookies, this one is amazingly free of refined sugars, sweetened only with fruit juice.  Unlike the Oatmeal Raisin cookie we trialed, I didn’t notice a different flavor to this cookie.  It retained that familiar white and brown sugar cookie taste, without a speck in it.  In addition to the low sugar bonus, this cookie is vegan and free of wheat (made with oat and barley flours).

Nana's No Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookie

The overall taste and texture was fantastic.  Nana added the perfect amount of sweetness, not over the top, but still an indulgence.  The chocolate chips are a bit different, more pronounced in flavor than semi-sweet, yet not really a dark chocolate.  I can’t say that I preferred them to regular semi-sweet, but I certainly wasn’t complaining.  Though most kids like anything called a cookie, I would definitely vote the Nana’s No Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookie as a more adult-friendly option, due to the dense taste and texture and the stronger chocolate chips.

Nana's No Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookie

As I love all things “wheaty” and doughy, I would buy this cookie again in a heartbeat.  Feeling generous, I did share some of the cookie with my husband.  He really enjoyed it, but this isn’t much of a test.  Like a youngster at heart, his discriminating taste buds are shoved aside for anything with the label “cookie.”

Where to Purchase:  Nana's products are sold in stores throughout the U.S., most notaby in Whole Foods stores (now to include Wild Oats).  You can also order direct from Nana's Healthy Crowd website.

I am officially addicted to these. :grin After becoming vegan last year I didnt think I that I would find any sweets (besides fruit) that would be both satisfying and vegan, but I was very wrong. Thanks for making being vegan a lot easier for me!

I recently started cutting back on dairy and wheat (doctor's orders) and was resigned to eating cardboard-like imitation sweets - until I found these cookies! They are very tasty. While they are different from my homemade chocolate chip cookies (the recipe on the Tollhouse brand chips) they are actually a little better due to a more complex and hearty flavor. And real chocolate is a good thing!

WOW!! My husband and I have cut wheat and sugar out of our diets on the advice of our naturopathic doctor. Like many others, we have had a devil of a time finding suitable and good sweets. Had I not known that Nana's cookies were wheat-free and sugar-free, I would have thought I was cheating on my meal plan.... Thanks Nana's for such a great alternative to Tollhouse cookies.... :grin

I don't like the chocolate chip cookies at all. They taste like coconut! YUCK! (I do mean the plain chocolate chip NOT the coconut chocolate chip!) Why would the plain chocolate chip cookies taste like coconut!?? :sigh :(

My 2 year old daughter was just diagnosed with having allergies to dairy, wheat, peanuts, corn, and soy. I just found these cookies today and decided to have her try them. She just finished 1/4 of it and loved it. She keeps asking me for more. I am so happy to have found this product. It will make her transition to a new diet easier.
