Sean’s Food Cookies - Soft Chocolate Chip and Apple Crisps (Vegan*, Gluten-Free, Soy-Free) PDF Print E-mail

Lately, my husband and I have been yearning for some more wholesome treats, and have actually turned to grain-free baking and natural sweeteners. So imagine my delight when I stumbled across Sean’s Food on the internet. This little company churns out dairy-free, gluten-free, and soy-free goodies, plus they have numerous grain-free options, and many goodies sweetened only with agave, honey, or maple syrup (they do offer sweets baked with organic sugar too for those who like the sweeter side).

To get a sampling of Sean’s Food, we trialed the Vanilla Cupcakes and two types of cookies:

I have to admit, I wasn’t a huge fan of the Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies, but that’s okay, because my husband loved them. He devoured ten of those cookies within 24 hours ...

The cookies had a very unique chewy texture that was a bit too chewy for me, but they also offered a pleasant buttery taste and a mild sweetness. Though they were definitely cookies, they had the occasional salty bite to them, which we both enjoyed for contrast. Mini chocolate chips dotted each cookie, though I was longing for one or two more chunks of chocolate with each bite. But fortunately, since my husband was so preoccupied with the chocolate chip cookies, I got to hoard almost all of the other cookies to myself …

The Apple Crisp Cookies were simply addictive. As someone who typically reaches for soft and chewy cookies above all else, I was surprised by my infatuation with these crispy little cookies. The warm sweetness combined with a mellow apple flavor and “buttery” goodness was just too perfect. They really hit the flavor spot on with these, and the crispy crunch was a wonderful match with my afternoon tea … though I think they might be even better dunked into a glass of almond milk.

The cookies come with a dozen to a package. They are modestly sized, but the almond base makes them quite filling. I found two to be just the right amount for an afternoon treat. Oh yes, and the packaging … these are definitely gift-worthy sweets. Each item is packed with care, tied with ribbon and gently placed in a bed of decorative confetti ...

But, the sticker affixed to each package really put them over the top ...

Obviously, between the two of us, Sean’s Food was a huge hit, and I am amazed by how many other baked goodies they have on the menu. I don’t think I have seen a fledgling company emerge with such a wonderful selection of cookies, loaves, cakes, cupcakes, muffins, and candies. Anyone who is following a special diet should certainly give them a look.

Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies (with organic ingredients): almond, sea salt, baking soda, coconut oil, vanilla, agave and gfcf chocolate chips.

Apple Crisps (with organic ingredients): coconut oil, honey, applesauce, egg*, almond flour, baking soda and spices. *They can be made with flax seeds instead of egg.
