The Raw Bakery Carob Noisette Brownie (Vegan, Gluten-Free, Soy-Free) PDF Print E-mail

This brownie is amazingly nutritious!  Rich with raw hazelnuts, organic walnuts, and raw pecans, you can expect a good dose of “heart-healthy” oils and protein from this snack.  The natural sweetness comes from deglet dates and organic medjool dates, both good sources of fiber.  The final ingredient, raw carob powder, is known as a good source of calcium.  That’s it, no added flavors, no processed sugars, and no refined flours, just whole raw and organic foods.

In all fairness, the Carob Noisette Brownie would be classified as more of an “energy bar” than an indulgent brownie in my book.  The texture is smooth and dense, like a very “hearty" fudge or marzipan.  The dates hold the predominant flavor and lend the brownie its sugar.  The nuts are ground into a quite smooth butter or meal, and offer a contrasting flavor to the dates.  The carob flavor is present, yet surprisingly mild.  Though filling, this brownie won’t weigh you down, and can easily be savored.  These are excellent qualities of an afternoon treat or energizer.

The Raw Bakery Brownies come in a simple, yet elegant wrap that would look delightful in a gift basket for a raw food or vegan hostess.  They are perfectly sized squares that weigh in at 2.75 ounces each.

  • Pros:  Free of dairy, soy, gluten, wheat, eggs, and everything but the six ingredients noted above; Vegan; Appropriate for raw food diets; Naturally sweetened; Good nutritional value
  • Cons:  The flavor and texture may be particular to some, as it is a raw food twist that strays quite far from the traditional brownie; Nutritional values are not printed on the package

Recommended For:

  • Date Fans
  • Raw Food Connoisseurs
  • A Vegan Gift Basket
  • A Nutritious, Whole Food Energy Bar
  • An Afternoon Treat
