We have been a traditional Clif Bar family for many years, though it seems I may be making the switch to Nectar Bars. The other day I was seeking a gluten-free, sugar-free afternoon snack to get me through my sweets craving, but a piece of fruit just wasn’t going to cut it this time. I spotted the Nectar Bar that I had just purchased as a trial (on sale and with a coupon of course!) the day before. I was surprisingly impressed. The flavor blend was perfect, and the texture was soft and chewy with big chunks of nuts throughout. This simplistic snack contains only organic dates, organic pecans, organic cinnamon, and organic vanilla. It is in fact so natural and basic that I should make them at home, and perhaps I will try it sometime. For now, I will fill my shopping cart whenever a good Nectar Bar sale strikes. My husband is not a date fan, and wouldn’t even consider trialing the Nectar Bar. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise. For once he didn’t steal the last energy bar before I could get my hands on it. Finally a treat that is all mine! Check back for more reviews on the other varieties, as I track down some more coupons. - Pros: Organic, Raw, Vegan, Gluten-Free, Soy-Free, Corn-Free – suitable to just about every diet except nut-free; Perfect flavor blend; Sweet, but no added sugars; Good source of potassium and fiber; About as natural as an energy bar can get
- Cons: Actual “sugars” are high due to the dates; Not for the date averse
Recommended for: - A Sugar-Free Sweet Tooth
- Organic & Raw Food Diets
- Quick Energy
- An Anytime Snack
Where to Buy: - Online – You can purchase them from the guys at Clif Bar, but they are almost half the price on Amazon (only $7.25 for 9 bars)
- In Store – These seem to be popping up in grocery stores everywhere, but your best odds are at natural food grocers.
