Ener-G Granola Bars (Vegan, Gluten-Free, Soy-Free) PDF Print E-mail

Granola Bar?  Not really…
English Biscuit?  Perhaps…
Cookie Bar?  Now we’re talking!

Though I was expecting a more “granola”-like flavor and texture, I certainly wasn’t disappointed with Ener-G’s Granola Bars.  I was caught off guard with the first bite, curious after the second, but I completely lost count after the 3rd…until the entire bar was gone.  It was like a big cookie bar with an interestingly sweet taste, perhaps from the unique main ingredient, filbert paste.

Sweet, dense, and a bit crumbly, they were great with tea for a light breakfast.  Loads of diced almonds and walnuts mixed up the texture, and made for a healthier bar.  Though cookie-like in description, the sugars (12g) and calories (180) are kept in check.  The bars are generously sized, like your average Clif or Luna bar, and come with ten in a package.  I was a bit concerned at first that we wouldn’t finish them while fresh, as we were short on tasters.  Luckily, this didn’t seem to be a problem.  My husband, who first responded that they were “okay,” was caught on numerous occasions sneaking the bars.  I was forced to upgrade his vote to “good”.

Perfect for most diets, these bars are free of wheat, gluten, dairy, egg, and soy.  Yet, I wouldn’t proclaim “gluten-free” when eating them, nor did I detect a funny taste or texture.  These were simply good, and I would expect them to be a hit with the little ones.

  • Pros:  Vegan; Kosher certified; Made in a wheat-free, gluten-free, dairy-free, peanut free dedicated facility; Ingredients are soy-free; Great packaging technique that makes for a long shelf-life; Cookie-like taste; Full of “heart-healthy” nuts
  • Cons:  Unique, not a “true” granola bar

Recommended For:

  • A Snack or Light Breakfast-on-the-go
  • Afternoon Tea
  • “Free-From” Dieters and those with Food Allergies
  • Kids

Where to Buy:

  • Online – Direct from Ener-G, but they are much cheaper on Amazon
  • In Store - Sold in stores throughout the U.S., Canada, and the U.K.
