HoneyBar – Breakfast Bar (Egg-Free, Soy-Free, Wheat-Free) PDF Print E-mail

Please Note: This variety has been discontinued ...

... but, other Honeybar flavors are still available.

I loved the Breakfast Bar…because I love coconut.  For a taste of the flavor, think of a Mounds or Almond Joy bar sans chocolate.  Tons of coconut and rolled oats make up the base of this mix, which is bound by honey and molasses.  Although I was unable to taste the molasses, it seemed to mellow the honey.  Overall, this bar was very sweet, but more from the blend of sweetened dried fruit.  Bits of chewy dried fruit (raisins, papayas, pineapple, and apricots) and a just a few minor spots of crunchy glazed banana were a pleasant surprise.  The Breakfast Bar has a moderate level of fat (7g) that is primarily saturated.  However, since it is primarily from the coconut, the entire bar is still cholesterol free.  With 17g of sugar and a quite low calorie level of 160, I would hesitate to grab this bar at breakfast, but it is fabulous for an afternoon treat or quick energy.

  • Pros:  Modest calorie level for a bar; Tasty sweet treat; Cholesterol free and very low in sodium; Pleasant chewy texture
  • Cons:  Low in protein and high in sugar; Contains sulfites for dried fruit preservation

Recommended For:

  • Sweet Coconut Cravings
  • Pre or Mid-Workout Boost
  • Afternoon Treat

Where to Buy:

  • Online – U.S. shoppers will find all HoneyBar varieties on Amazon, Canadian shoppers should head to the healthy shopper.
  • In Store - Natural Food Grocers in the U.S. and Canada
