HoneyBar – Mixed Sesame: Organic or Natural (Organic*, Egg-Free, Gluten-Free, Soy-Free) PDF Print E-mail

Hundreds of sesame seeds set the tone for this HoneyBar, but the inclusion of peanuts, raisins, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, almonds, and of course honey, add some delicious complexity.  In fact, we found the peanuts to be the dominant flavor in this bar.  The amount of honey added is perfect, and the overall bar has a nice chewy texture.  Like the other organic selections, the Mixed Sesame HoneyBar is a touch high in overall fats, but from mostly unsaturated sources, and with a fair amount of Omega 3’s.  The high quantity of sesame seeds makes this bar a good source of calcium as well.

  • Pros:  100% Certified organic; High in protein and “good” fats; Offers lasting energy; Gluten-free; Good source of calcium and iron
  • Cons:  Some sesame may get caught in teeth; May be a touch high in sugars and fats for some diets

Recommended For:

  • Nut and Seed Lovers
  • Moderately Paced Endurance Activities
  • Afternoon Snack
  • Calcium

Natural vs Organic:

This HoneyBar comes in both the Natural (all natural ingredients, no preservatives) and 100% Certified Organic.  Of course you can expect a slightly higher price tag for the goodness of organic.  Beyond this, the Natural HoneyBar seemed to have a higher ratio and of sesame seeds, while the Organic bar tasted just a bit more like a nut & seed blend.  Ingredient wise, the addition of a small amount of cashews is noted in the Natural HoneyBar.

Where to Buy:

  • Online – U.S. shoppers will find all HoneyBar varieties on Amazon, Canadian shoppers should head to the healthy shopper.
  • In Store - Natural Food Grocers in the U.S. and Canada
