Honeybar - Chocolaty Peanut Butter (Egg-Free, Soy-Free, Wheat-Free) PDF Print E-mail

HoneyBar does a fantastic job in creating great flavor blends from just a few ingredients, and the Chocolate Peanut Butter selection is no exception.  The ingredient statement listed honey, peanuts, rolled oats, peanut butter, semi-sweet chocolate, and crisp brown rice; nothing more, nothing less.  I can best describe this overall mix as a hearty no bake cookie or a dense granola bar.  The texture is a soft and chewy blend of peanuts, rolled oats, and crisp brown rice.  In terms of taste, it was just mildly sweet with well-defined flavors and a very predominant peanut punch.  I really liked the use of semi-sweet chocolate rather than cocoa in this bar, as it was not overpowering.  As an afternoon or post-workout recharge this bar gets the thumbs up with 14 grams of protein.  Although a bit high, the 14g of sugar and 10g of fat will offer some quick and lasting afternoon energy, while the overall 200 calories won’t break the diet bank.

  • Pros:  Very good source of protein; Simple ingredients; Egg, soy, and wheat free; Pleasant texture
  • Cons:  A bit too high in fat and sugar for regular snacking

Recommended for:

  • Peanut Fans
  • Afternoon Snack
  • Post Workout Recovery

Where to Buy:

  • Online – U.S. shoppers will find all HoneyBar varieties on Amazon, Canadian shoppers should head to the healthy shopper.
  • In Store - Natural Food Grocers in the U.S. and Canada
