MacroBar – Granola Delight (Organic, Vegan, Organic, Soy-Free, Wheat-Free) **Top Pick** PDF Print E-mail

~~ 5 Star Selection from Go Dairy Free ~~

This product was chosen by our staff as a top pick for quality and taste.

The Granola Delight MacroBar has a fantastic blend of pure organic ingredients, which compliment one another in both flavor and texture.  At first bite, I wasn’t too sure, but as I continued the various flavors began to emerge.  By the end of the bar, I had found another favorite!  The texture is soft at first, followed by the chewy, and relatively hearty, combination of rolled oats, finely chopped walnuts, and shredded coconut.  The flavor is sweet, but not sugary, with brown rice syrup as the predominant sweetener.  Organic dates, almond butter, and the occasional raisin rounded out the flavors in this energy bar; however, they were each used in very moderate amounts.  Although I could actually taste every ingredient, not one single flavor overpowered the mix.  I trialed this bar as an energy boost before a casual tennis practice.  It didn’t weigh me down, and offered a good hour of high energy, followed by another hour of moderate energy, to tide me over until dinnertime.  If you like a good oat based bar, as do I, then the Granola Delight MacroBar deserves your attention.

  • Pros:  Relatively low fat (12% of calories); Organic; Vegan; Soy-Free; Wheat-Free; High quality ingredients
  • Cons:  High in sugar; High quality ingredients bring a slightly higher than average price tag

Recommended For:

  • Oat Bar Enthusiasts
  • Pre-Exercise Nourishment
  • Macrobiotic Dieters
  • Mid-Morning or Afternoon Snack-on-the-go

Overall MacroBar Review

The ingredients in these bars seemed almost too good to be true.  Vegan, organic, gluten-free, and pure seem to be the signatures of Go Macro.  The developers of the MacroBar are followers of the Macrobiotic Diet, an emerging trend that focuses on unrefined, whole, and natural foods.  This equates to no refined sugars, white flours, or preservatives.  Oats, puffed brown rice, dried fruit, nuts, seeds, brown rice syrup, and nut butters cover the majority of the ingredients utilized in these bars.  The result is an all-natural “PowerBar” like texture, only softer and less chewy.  A sure treat for those who were disappointed to discover that high fructose corn syrup is now the first ingredient in PowerBar’s Performace Bars.  If you are looking for a chunkier consistency, then the Sesame Berry and Granola Delight MacroBars are definitely worth a bite.
