MacroBar - Sesame Berry (Organic, Vegan, Organic, Soy-Free, Gluten-Free) PDF Print E-mail

No expense was spared on the Sesame Berry MacroBar, loaded with dried blueberries, cherries, and cranberries.  We enjoyed the taste, which contrasted the sweet flavor of the bar itself with the sweet-tart notes of the dried berries.  It was a surprise to our tasters who were expecting raisins at first glance.  The texture is well balanced; somewhat “seedy” overall with puffed brown rice for a more edible consistency.  I also loved the nutrient mix for a pre-exercise jump-start.  From personal experience, the high carbohydrate, low protein blend offered me a good burst of energy in between activities.

  • Pros:  Vegan; Organic; Free from refined sugars or flours; Compliments the Macrobiotic Diet; High quality ingredients; Great taste
  • Cons:  High in sugars ; High quality ingredients bring a slightly higher than average price tag

Recommended For:

  • Pre-Activity Charger
  • Mid-Day Boost
  • Dried Berry Fans
  • Macrobiotic Dieters

Overall MacroBar Review

The ingredients in these bars seemed almost too good to be true.  Vegan, organic, gluten-free, and pure seem to be the signatures of Go Macro.  The developers of the MacroBar are followers of the Macrobiotic Diet, an emerging trend that focuses on unrefined, whole, and natural foods.  This equates to no refined sugars, white flours, or preservatives.  Oats, puffed brown rice, dried fruit, nuts, seeds, brown rice syrup, and nut butters cover the majority of the ingredients utilized in these bars.  The result is an all-natural “PowerBar” like texture, only softer and less chewy.  A sure treat for those who were disappointed to discover that high fructose corn syrup is now the first ingredient in PowerBar’s Performace Bars.  If you are looking for a chunkier consistency, then the Sesame Berry and Granola Delight MacroBars are definitely worth a bite.
