Flavor: Hempseed Original

This flavor is a hodgepodge of whole seeds (Sunflower, hemp, flax, and pumpkin) touched by honey.  I enjoyed it, and liked that it was sweet enough with only 5 grams of sugar.  However, the seediness did make chewing a bit more arduous.  As a cinnamon fan, I longed for a little spice to take the flavor to the next level.

Overall Nutiva Bar Review:

There is nothing deceiving about the Nutiva line of nut and seed bars, what you see is what you taste.  Each bar is loaded with vegetarian proteins and heart healthy oils from the rich blend of seeds and nuts.  Their “for the birds” bars, as we like to call them, are bound together by pure honey.  We really like this ingredient mix for excellent post-workout healing, re-energizing, and muscle support.  Nutiva balances out the higher calorie nuts and seeds by staying light on the overall sugars.  Although higher in fat, it should offer more lasting energy during those mid-day cravings, at a lower calorie price tag than most snack bars.

  • Pros:  Low sugar; Omega-3’s; Simple ingredients
  • Cons: A bit difficult to chew, due to the high content of seeds; For some, the flavor may be too simple

Recommended For:

  • Post-Workout
  • Heart-healthy Afternoon Snack
  • Nut & Seed Lovers

Where to Buy:

  • Online - Nutiva's webstore isn't up, but you can buy direct from Amazon
  • In Stores - Throughout the U.S. and Canada, see www.Nutiva.com for a store locator
