Blackwell's Organic Sorbetto - Mango (Vegan, Gluten-Free, Soy-Free) PDF Print E-mail

By Alisa Fleming, Go Dairy Free & One Frugal Foodie ~ Not too long ago I stumbled across Blackwell’s Organic, a vegan gelato and sorbetto producer.  Yes, gourmet, frozen, cream and dairy-free!  Even better, Blackwell’s offers “Gelato by Mail.”  That’s right, you can actually have delicious “ice cream” delivered to your door within the United States.

Completely overjoyed when my own frozen desserts arrived, I was most eager to trial the Mango Sorbetto.  Though sorbets rarely excite me, I am a huge mango fan, and had high hopes after reading Hannah’s rave reviews of Blackwell’s products.

As I peeled back the lid of this well-sealed pint, a brilliant yellow-orange hue emerged … forgive my overly cutesy imagery … but it really was like a ray of sunshine on that particularly cloudy day.  The sorbetto was smooth, but firm, so I let it soften for just a minute before gliding the scoop through it with ease.

Blackwell's Organic Mango Sorbetto

Allowing each bite to slowly melt in my mouth I was amazed with the creamy texture that seemed far above your average sorbet in quality.  It was still incredibly refreshing, tasting just like chilled mango chunks (if you haven’t enjoyed frozen mango on a hot day, then you are really missing out!), yet quite indulgent, as if I was actually enjoying … heaven forbid … ice cream.

Blackwell’s Organic is currently available in several flavors by mail, including:

Chocolate (soy) Gelato
Coffee (soy) Gelato
Peanut Butter (soy) Gelato
Peanut Butter & Chocolate Swirl (soy) Gelato
Vanilla (soy) Gelato

Lemon Sorbetto
Mango Sorbetto
Orange Sorbetto
Pineapple Sorbetto
Raspberry Sorbetto
Strawberry Sorbetto
