Perdue Short Cuts (Egg-Free, Gluten-Free, Nut-Free) PDF Print E-mail

By Barb Nicoletti - With so much of our food focus turning toward health and fitness, you may be questioning your lunchtime choices.  But if you think that your options are limited, with nothing available that is quick and actually tastes good, then you have thought wrong.

My family is rather fussy when it comes to lunchtime feasting.  Finding foods that they will actually eat can be a challenge.  While sandwiches can be a good standby, cold cuts are not the healthiest thing in the world for you, so I was on a hunt to find something else for everyone to enjoy.

PerdueI was strolling the supermarket yet again, when I came across Perdue Short Cuts.  Perdue has taken the cooking out of your busy day.  Perdue short cuts are marinated pieces of chicken breast, cut up into bite sizes pieces.  After reading the package, the fat was really low, the calorie count was really low, and it did not contain, dairy, egg, nuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, seeds or wheat.  However, they do contain soy.  I recommend as always reading the package to ensure they are safe for your family.  With all signs a go, I decided to purchase a package, along with some tortilla wraps, lettuce, bbq sauce and tomato.  The next morning, I layered each wrap with the bbq sauce, lettuce, a slice of tomato and a cup of the Perdue Short Cuts.   When I asked how was lunch, the response was “Fantastic.”  Since the typical response is just “good,” I knew we had a winner.

These short cuts can easily be used in many different meals: fajitas, quesadillas, salad, wraps, roll-ups, on top of pasta, eaten alone, as an entrée, really your options are endless.   Checking out at $3.29 a box, I found them to be a great deal.  Even better, I recently purchased these at the Bulk Shopping Store for $9.99 for a 3 lb box.  They can be frozen in their original package so spoilage is not a concern.

Definitely a success.  Visit Perdue’s website for other options and recipes as well at www.perdue.com.
