Foods Alive Organic Flax Crackers – Mustard (Vegan, Gluten-Free, Soy-Free) PDF Print E-mail

Since I don’t typically see them in my local grocery store, it had been years since I last tried the Flax Crackers from Foods Alive (See my prior review here). Nonetheless, I remembered enjoying them, and was thrilled when they offered to send samples of their newest flavor, Mustard.

Foods Alive Mustard Flax Crackers

Truth be told, I didn’t have super-high expectations for the flavor … I mean, mustard? No “honey,” “spicy,” or “Dijon” to jazz up the title, just mustard. But wow, it was love at first bite! The taste was so much more than I had anticipated. The crackers had (past tense, they are gone now!) a definite mustard scent that parlayed into a lightly sweet (though not honey mustard sweet) Dijon mustard flavor that I would describe as deep, but not bold. I found them completely addictive.

In terms of their “crackeriness,” they are randomly shaped and sized and have a nice crispy crunch that is more seed than bread. Unique, but very enjoyable, and still quite functional like a cracker. In addition to devouring one right after another, I tried the Mustard Flax Crackers with plain hummus, and it was a delicious combination.

Though I don’t remember the specific tastes of the other Foods Alive crackers well, the mustard version is persuasive enough for me to seek these babies out the next time I am in town and near a Whole Foods.
