The Raw Bakery Raw Apple Cinnamon Pecan Granola (Vegan, Gluten-Free, Soy-Free) PDF Print E-mail

The wonderful cinnamon smell of this granola captured my senses immediately.  I was eager to sample it, and found my first opportunity while waiting for a flight at the airport.  It came packaged in a simple, but firm, travel-size pouch with a re-sealable zipper.  I was hungry, and certain that I could manage the petite three-ounce package in one sitting.  However, I truly underestimated the substantial and filling contents.  Just a third of the way in, I could eat no more.

This granola is a pleasant blend of apples, raisins, pecan, almonds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, and cinnamon.  The health conscious will be enticed by this true fiber, protein, and Omega-3 powerhouse indeed.  Others may simply like the taste.  Though fragrant, the cinnamon blends in nicely, enhancing rather than overpowering the mix.  With each bite, new flavors emerged, from the sweetness of dried apples and raisins to the crunch of pumpkin seeds.

The most unique aspect of this granola, beyond its raw properties, is that it is more of a blended snack than what we might think of as traditional granola.  I would actually recommend it as a great alternative to the not-as-exciting energy bar.  The coarsely chopped nuts, seeds, and dried fruit are actually bound together by what I at first thought was dates (by flavor and texture).  As it turns out, dates didn’t even make the ingredient cut.  I can only speculate that it must be a combination of raisins and nuts blended into a binding paste.  Regardless, I enjoyed it.  Not to mention, with this truly natural and healthy snack I was able to leave the guilt at home.

  • Pros: Raw (all ingredients completely raw or soaked and dehydrated at 105F); Vegan; Gluten-free; Soy-free; Peanut-free; Mostly organic; Incredible cinnamon smell; Reseable snacking pouch
  • Cons: The very natural and not-to-sweet flavor was particular to some; The nutrition info is not listed on the packaging
