Taco Seasoning (Vegan, Gluten-Free, Soy-Free) |

It is hard to find a good taco seasoning that isn't loaded with chemicals. I trialed a few recipes for homemade versions, and like this one the best. It is easy to make, and it uses spices that I frequently have on hand. It is the cumin that really makes this work. I find the recipe can easily handle up to a pound of ground meat (turkey or beef work great), but you can use more or less as desired.
Ingredients: - 1 teaspoon chili powder (add more if you like heat. the original recipe called for 1 tablespoon, but it was way too hot for me)
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper (optional, I rarely add black pepper)
Directions: Combine all ingredients in a small bowl. Blend into ground meat (or tofu) when the meat is almost fully cooked. If you are not going to use it right away, cover and refrigerate until needed to preserve flavor. Quote this article on your site
